Responsibilities
- Gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements from laboratory departments
- Map current laboratory workflows and identify process improvement opportunities
- Configure LIMS modules, workflows, test catalogs, sample types, result formats, reference ranges, approval hierarchies, user roles, alerts, and notification rules
- Support the design of end to end laboratory processes for clinical, pathology, toxicology, microbiology, biochemistry, hematology, molecular, or other relevant laboratory disciplines
- Develop functional specifications for system integrations with analyzers, middleware, EMR, HIS, ERP, barcode systems, and reporting tools
- Coordinate with technical and integration teams to validate interface requirements, data mapping, message formats, and system connectivity
- Prepare test scenarios, test scripts, and acceptance criteria for system configuration, integrations, reports, and workflows
- Lead or support System Integration Testing, User Acceptance Testing, defect management, and resolution tracking
- Support data migration activities, including reviewing legacy data, defining mapping requirements, validating migrated records, and ensuring data quality
- Develop user manuals, standard operating procedures, workflow guides, and training materials
- Deliver user training sessions and provide functional support during go live, hypercare, and post implementation phases
- Ensure LIMS configuration supports laboratory quality requirements, traceability, audit trails, data integrity, and relevant regulatory or accreditation standards
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biomedical Science, Pathology, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Health Informatics, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in a medical, clinical, diagnostic, pathology, or laboratory environment
- Experience in LIMS, LIS, laboratory middleware, laboratory automation, or healthcare information systems
- Strong understanding of medical laboratory workflows, including sample lifecycle management, test ordering, result validation, quality control, reporting, and laboratory traceability
- Familiarity with laboratory accreditation and quality standards, such as ISO 15189, ISO 17025, CAP, JCI, or local healthcare regulatory requirements
- Experience in requirements gathering, workflow mapping, functional configuration, testing, training, and user support
- Good understanding of data integrity, user access controls, audit trails, electronic records, and documentation requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

Position Summary
- The LIMS Functional Consultant is responsible for analyzing, designing, configuring, testing, and supporting Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) solutions for medical and clinical laboratory environments.
- The role bridges laboratory operations and technology, ensuring that the LIMS is configured to support efficient, compliant, traceable, and high quality laboratory workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather, analyze, and document business and functional requirements from laboratory departments, including sample reception, accessioning, testing, result entry, validation, reporting, and sample storage or disposal.
- Map current laboratory workflows and identify process improvement opportunities to be incorporated into the LIMS design.
- Configure LIMS modules, workflows, test catalogs, sample types, result formats, reference ranges, approval hierarchies, user roles, alerts, and notification rules.
- Support the design of end to end laboratory processes for clinical, pathology, toxicology, microbiology, biochemistry, hematology, molecular, or other relevant laboratory disciplines.
- Develop functional specifications for system integrations with analyzers, middleware, Electronic Medical Record systems, Hospital Information Systems, ERP platforms, barcode systems, and reporting tools.

Required Qualifications

- Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in a medical, clinical, diagnostic, pathology, or laboratory environment.
- Experience in LIMS, LIS, laboratory middleware, laboratory automation, or healthcare information systems.
- Strong understanding of medical laboratory workflows, including sample lifecycle management, test ordering, result validation, quality control, reporting, and laboratory traceability.
- Familiarity with laboratory accreditation and quality standards, such as ISO 15189, ISO 17025, CAP, JCI, or local healthcare regulatory requirements.
- Experience in requirements gathering, workflow mapping, functional configuration, testing, training, and user support.
- Good understanding of data integrity, user access controls, audit trails, electronic records, and documentation requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English; Arabic language capability is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience implementing or supporting a recognized LIMS or LIS platform.
- Experience with laboratory instrument integration, HL7 messaging, API integration, or interface engines.
- Knowledge of laboratory quality management systems, method validation, quality control, and proficiency testing processes.
- Experience working with hospital, public health, toxicology, forensic, research, or reference laboratories.
- Professional certification in health informatics, laboratory quality, project management, or a related discipline.
