Reporting directly to the Chief Metallurgist, the Senior Metallurgist is responsible for providing technical metallurgical support, process monitoring, optimization, and troubleshooting across production circuits while supporting production, safety, and compliance expectations.
During pre-commissioning and commissioning, this role will support operational readiness through metallurgical input into process control strategies, operating procedures, safe work instructions (SWIs), sampling programs, and other duties as assigned.
Once operational, the role will provide technical oversight and metallurgical guidance across crushing, conveying, grinding, flotation, dewatering, and tailings areas.
As a key member of the Mill technical team, the Senior Metallurgist will play an integral role in developing process capability, supporting operational readiness, and driving continuous improvement in plant performance.
Promote a proactive safety culture through technical field presence, hazard identification, job observations, and area audits.
Enforce lockout/tagout, confined space, PPE, SOP/SWI, and JSEA requirements.
Investigate and document incidents and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
Maintain compliance with company policies, site standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Support the commissioning team with metallurgical expertise, process sampling, data interpretation, and plant performance troubleshooting.
Assist the Chief Metallurgist with operational readiness by assisting in the development of the metallurgical accounting database, performance monitoring guidelines, and the daily, weekly, and monthly (including reconciliation) reporting structure.
Development of the sampling program with support from the assay lab.
