- Verify alignment and tolerances of moving parts using measuring instruments such as dial indicators and thickness gauges
- Interpret job requests, perform tests to confirm the problem and propose repair methods
- Place and remove spades, open and close pipe flanges, recognise gasket types and types of bolts/nuts
- Perform valve testing using test benches or field testing
- Perform proper slinging and lifting with chain blocks and small cranes, use of Gin wheel lifting
- Deputise for the Supervisor and act as Leader to less experienced technicians
- Execute preparation of work packs, including work planning and preparations for site works
Requirements

- Experience in placing and removing spades, opening and closing pipe flanges, recognising gasket types and bolt/nut types
- Experience in proper slinging and lifting with chain blocks and small cranes, use of Gin wheel lifting
- Ability to deputise for the Supervisor and act as Leader to less experienced technicians
- Experience in execution of preparation of work packs
- Meets all minimum requirements for Mechanical Technician

Responsibilities
- Verifies alignment and tolerances of moving parts, using measuring instruments, such as dial indicators and thickness gauges.
- Must be able to interpret job requests, perform tests to confirm the problem and propose repair methods without permanent supervision.
- Must have experience in and be able to place and remove spades and to open and close pipe flanges, recognise the gasket types and types of bolts / nuts.
- Minimum 5% should be skilled in assembly, testing and fixing of safety relief valves and all kinds of valves at site.
- Performs valve testing by using test benches or field testing.
- Must have experience in and be able to perform proper slinging and lifting with chain blocks and small cranes, use of Gin wheel lifting.
- Should be able to deputise for the Supervisor and act as Leader to less experienced technicians.
- Must have experience in and be able to execute preparation of work packs, e.g. to carry out all the necessary work planning and preparations to be able to execute the site works and compile the relevant information in a work pack for submission with the Permit to Work request.
- Meets all minimum requirements for Mechanical Technician.
- Multiskilled craftsman as defined in Section 4, Appendix 13.
