Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Overview

Your Role

• Lead and mentor engineering teams on complex projects.
• Support the design and development of mechanical equipment to high safety, quality, and efficiency standards.
• Deliver work across concept, feasibility, detailed design, and implementation.
• Apply advanced 3D CAD and machinery design expertise to practical solutions.
• Guide manufacturing, assembly, and installation approaches.
• Work with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and project stakeholders.
• Contribute technical input to proposals, budgets, schedules, feasibility studies, optioneering, and design reviews.
• Build relationships, influence decisions, and support junior engineers through coaching and knowledge sharing.

About You

• Significant mechanical design engineering experience in nuclear, defence, or another highly regulated engineering environment.
• Strong capability in Autodesk Inventor and/or Siemens NX.
• Experience designing mechanical handling systems, machinery, tooling, test rigs, or mechanical components.
• A structured approach to engineering design across the asset lifecycle.
• Strong stakeholder engagement, communication, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
• Experience contributing to bids, planning, feasibility studies, and engineering decision-making.
• Commitment to continuous learning and supporting others.
