The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will work on mission-critical data centre projects in Riyadh.

The role requires compliance with project requirements, Saudi regulations, and international data centre standards.
Mechanical Design
- Lead mechanical design through feasibility, concept, schematic, detailed, and IFC design stages.
- Develop design philosophies, Basis of Design reports, calculations, equipment schedules, specifications, and drawings.
- Design chilled-water systems, including chillers, cooling towers, pumps, heat exchangers, and distribution systems.
- Design CRAH, CRAC, Fan Wall, thermal-storage, hot-aisle and cold-aisle containment, and liquid-cooling systems.
- Design ventilation, pressurization, and smoke-management systems.
Analysis and Resilience
- Perform cooling-load, hydraulic, and ventilation calculations, including equipment, pipe, and duct sizing.
- Develop resilient configurations aligned with project redundancy requirements.
- Assess availability, maintainability, concurrent maintainability, and potential single points of failure.
- Support energy-efficiency and PUE targets through system optimization and energy modelling.
- Review CFD analyses for data halls, plantrooms, generator yards, and other critical areas.
Fuel, Plumbing, and Fire Protection
- Design diesel fuel storage and distribution systems for standby generators, including fuel polishing, controls, and autonomy calculations.
- Design domestic water, drainage, stormwater, and equipment drainage systems.
- Prepare fire-protection calculations and specifications for fire pumps, sprinklers, pre-action, and clean-agent systems.
- Ensure fire-protection designs comply with NFPA and Saudi Civil Defense requirements.
Documentation and Coordination
- Prepare mechanical single-line diagrams, schematics, layouts, plantroom arrangements, and control philosophies.
- Coordinate with electrical, architectural, structural, civil, ICT, security, and fire-and-life-safety disciplines.
- Lead mechanical BIM coordination and review Revit models to the required Level of Development.
- Prepare equipment data sheets, tender documents, and contractor scopes of work.
- Conduct design workshops, risk reviews, value-engineering exercises, and client meetings.
Technical and Regulatory Reviews
- Evaluate vendors, manufacturers, specialist subcontractors, and tender submissions.
- Review contractor shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, RFIs, and technical deviations.
- Coordinate with Saudi authorities, licensed engineering offices, utility providers, and other Authorities Having Jurisdiction.
- Support Uptime Institute TCDD certification and closure of technical review comments.
- Monitor deliverables, resources, and design programmes for timely, high-quality submissions.
Required Experience
- Strong technical experience in data centre cooling systems, HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, and associated mechanical infrastructure.
- Ability to deliver designs from feasibility and concept stages through detailed design, tender, and construction support.
- Ability to comply with Saudi regulations and international data centre standards.
- Experience with mission-critical mechanical systems, BIM coordination, Revit models, and CFD analysis review.
