Responsibilities
- Act as the primary technical focal point for rail systems within the integrated client office
- Manage and oversee the rail systems design lifecycle (concept, preliminary, detailed design)
- Review and challenge system design reports, drawings, architectures, and interface control documents
- Chair multi discipline rail systems design reviews and value engineering workshops
- Oversee integration of rail systems with track, rolling stock, power supply, stations, and depots
- Embed safety by design principles and review RAMS documentation
- Coordinate with independent safety assessors and regulators on safety approvals
- Ensure rail systems designs align with construction methodologies and identify constructability risks
- Support client in evaluating design changes, technical deviations, and value engineering proposals
- Oversee quality of as built documentation and verify alignment with approved designs
Requirements
- Extensive experience in rail systems design management and technical assurance
- Deep knowledge of signalling, train control, telecoms, SCADA, platform systems, fare collection, security systems
- Experience in systems integration across rail disciplines
- Familiarity with RAMS processes and safety assurance
- Ability to represent client in technical meetings with consultants and contractors
- Experience with design build coordination and construction support

Role Overview
- Senior Project Manager: Technical Rail Systems is a senior, client facing role embedded within an integrated client PMC office on a major transportation program with a heavy focus on rail (metro, heavy rail, light rail, high speed).
- This is a non operational position focused on managing and assuring the rail systems technical scope across the design and build lifecycle on behalf of the client.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary technical focal point for rail systems within the integrated client office.
- Represent the client in technical, design, integration, and risk meetings.
- Interpret and safeguard employer's requirements and technical standards for rail systems.
- Provide independent advice to client leadership on rail systems issues and risks.
- Manage and oversee the rail systems design lifecycle for signalling, train control, telecoms, SCADA, platform systems, fare collection, security, and other line wide systems.
- Review and challenge system design reports, drawings, architectures, and interface control documents.
- Chair multi discipline rail systems design reviews and value engineering workshops.
- Ensure requirements management and traceability for rail systems.
- Oversee implementation of technical assurance framework for rail systems.
- Oversee integration of rail systems with track, rolling stock, power supply, stations, depots, and central control centres.
- Manage interface registers and interface control documents.
- Embed safety by design principles and review RAMS documentation.
Qualifications & Experience
- Extensive experience in rail systems design management and technical assurance.
- Deep knowledge of signalling, train control, telecoms, SCADA, platform systems, fare collection, security systems.
- Experience in systems integration across rail disciplines.
- Familiarity with RAMS processes and safety assurance.
- Ability to represent client in technical meetings with consultants and contractors.
- Experience with design build coordination and construction support.
