Responsibilities
- Act as the program level lead for rail systems within PUA, setting direction and priorities
- Develop and maintain rail systems strategies, standards, and technical principles
- Oversee rail systems scope across multiple projects and packages
- Coordinate project level rail systems managers to ensure consistent technical approaches
- Provide senior review and approval of key rail systems design concepts and architectures
- Provide program level oversight of systems integration across rail disciplines
- Drive resolution of major interface issues that cross project boundaries
- Provide leadership on rail systems safety and RAMS at program level
- Coordinate with independent safety assessors and regulators for approvals
- Provide program level oversight of testing & commissioning strategies
- Work with program controls to ensure rail systems activities are reflected in master schedule and risk registers
- Provide high quality reporting to program governance bodies on rail systems progress
Requirements
- Extensive experience in rail systems engineering and program level management
- Deep knowledge of signalling, train control, telecoms, SCADA, platform systems, fare collection, security systems
- Experience in systems integration across multiple rail projects
- Familiarity with RAMS processes and regulatory approvals
- Ability to provide strategic advice to senior client leadership
- Experience with testing, commissioning, and entry into service oversight

Role Overview
- Senior Manager: Rail Systems is a senior, client facing role embedded within an integrated client PMC office on a major transportation program with a strong focus on rail (metro, heavy rail, light rail, high speed).
- This is a non operational position: the focus is on managing and assuring the design and build process on behalf of the client.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the program level lead for rail systems within PUA, setting direction and priorities.
- Develop and maintain rail systems strategies, standards, and technical principles.
- Ensure employer's requirements for rail systems are clear and consistent.
- Provide independent, strategic advice to senior client leadership on rail systems issues.
- Oversee rail systems scope across multiple projects and packages (signalling, telecoms, SCADA, platform systems, AFC, security, control centres, line wide systems).
- Coordinate project level rail systems managers to ensure consistent technical approaches.
- Review and challenge project plans for rail systems design, procurement, installation, testing, and commissioning.
- Drive resolution of cross project rail systems issues and conflicts.
- Oversee the rail systems technical assurance framework at program level.
- Provide senior review and approval of key rail systems design concepts and architectures.
- Provide program level oversight of systems integration across rail disciplines.
- Drive resolution of major interface issues that cross project boundaries.
Qualifications & Experience
- Extensive experience in rail systems engineering and program level management.
- Deep knowledge of signalling, train control, telecoms, SCADA, platform systems, fare collection, security systems.
- Experience in systems integration across multiple rail projects.
- Familiarity with RAMS processes and regulatory approvals.
- Ability to provide strategic advice to senior client leadership.
- Experience with testing, commissioning, and entry into service oversight.
