Description

  • The Director Geotechnical will oversee all geotechnical and ground investigation activities across the Qiddiya Development which includes leading the execution of the Cliff Stabilisation Roadmap to ensure the long term stability of the Qiddiya Tuwaiq cliff.
  • This role is responsible for ensuring that geotechnical risks are identified, mitigated, and integrated into planning, design, and delivery activities at a city wide level.
  • This role requires expertise in project management, geotechnical engineering, procurement, design management and stakeholder coordination.

City Wide Geotechnical & Ground Investigation Responsibilities

  • Establish and lead a city wide geotechnical and ground investigation strategy that aligns with Qiddiya's master development plan
  • Oversee all geotechnical investigations across the city, ensuring data integrity, consistency, and long term value
  • Lead the integration of all geotechnical data into Qiddiya's GIS and digital engineering systems, ensuring long term asset management and traceability
  • Oversee procurement and management of city wide geotechnical consultants and ground investigation contractors
  • Ensure compliance with international standards, local regulations, and best practices in ground engineering
  • Coordinate closely with district development teams to ensure geotechnical inputs are embedded in early design decisions and construction methodologies
  • Implement a geotechnical risk register that informs prioritisation, scope development, and mitigation strategies across the project lifecycle
  • Support the development of geotechnical specifications, scopes of work, and contract documentation to ensure consistency and technical quality across all works

Cliff Stabilization Responsibilities

  • Lead strategic planning and execution for the City wide Cliff Stabilisation project, including the development of a phased delivery strategy that integrates with master planning, construction timelines, and the opening of adjacent districts to the cliff
  • Progress the project through Qiddiya's Stage Gate governance framework, leading on the development of all required Stage Gate deliverables
  • Collaborate with the Delivery Director to design team organisational structures and implement hiring strategies
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including procurement, engineering, digital information, planning, cost planning, commercial & reporting and delivery to deliver the project objectives
  • Coordinate with district master developers to ensure seamless integration of cliff stabilisation solutions with adjacent developments
  • Develop and maintain a cost plan in collaboration with Qiddiya's cost planning team and external cost consultants
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and quality standards across all phases to ensure successful project delivery
  • Define and implement procurement strategies, including the identification and selection of best fit consultants and contractors to execute the cliff stabilisation works
  • Act as Scope Owner, contributing to all tender processes, including drafting RFPs, responding to PTCs, evaluating tenders, and responsibility for governance and approvals.
  • Implement risk management frameworks to identify potential risks and integrate mitigation strategies
  • Lead the management of technical and design consultants and oversee the deliverables, ensuring compliance with time, cost, and quality parameters
  • Oversee the review and approval process of the technical and design deliverables, ensuring alignment with Qiddiya's Cliff Stabilisation Roadmap, engineering best practices and Qiddiya's approval process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
  • Minimum of 12 15 years of experience in large scale infrastructure or development projects, with specific expertise in geotechnical and stabilisation works
  • Proven experience in project management, contract administration, and procurement within a complex development environment
  • Strong leadership, excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with ability to manage multidisciplinary teams and external consultants
