Role Overview

Experience and Technical Depth

• Extensive FLS engineering and design experience across complex masterplans, infrastructure, and high-profile asset developments.
• Expertise in prescriptive and performance-based fire engineering design.
• Experience developing and reviewing FLS strategies, smoke management, evacuation, firefighting access, fire water infrastructure, and integrated protection systems.
• Strong understanding of Saudi Building Code, NFPA, IBC, IFC, Saudi Civil Defence requirements, and international standards.
• 8 to 15 years of FLS engineering and design experience across large-scale mixed-use, infrastructure, hospitality, entertainment, transportation, or giga-project developments.

Core Responsibilities

• Lead FLS design strategy development and assurance across buildings, infrastructure, public realm, transport interfaces, and masterplanned developments.
• Act as a senior FLS engineering authority on code compliance, design adequacy, life safety risk, and buildability.
• Review and challenge consultant FLS submissions, drawings, reports, and calculations.
• Develop and assess alternative solutions, smoke control, evacuation, compartmentation, firefighting access, and firefighting provisions.
• Coordinate FLS requirements with architecture, MEP, infrastructure, mobility, operations, and delivery teams.
• Support authority engagement and third-party reviews by preparing engineering positions and resolving comments.

Requirements and Preferred Credentials

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Fire Engineering is preferred; a related engineering degree may be accepted.
• Experience across masterplanning, concept, schematic, detailed design, and construction support stages is required.
• Experience with means of egress, smoke management, firefighting access, fire water infrastructure, fire alarm and suppression, and passive fire protection is required.
• Performance-based fire engineering, smoke modelling, evacuation analysis, and complex code compliance experience is required.
• MIFireE, Chartered Engineer, CFPS, NFPA, performance-based fire engineering, CFD modelling, smoke control, or PMP credentials are advantageous.
