Role Overview
The Simulator team builds realistic simulations for testing and training the Waymo Driver.
The team uses machine learning and large foundation models to model agents, roads, traffic controls, weather and other aspects of the real world.
The London team works with teams in Mountain View and Oxford to build foundation models and integrate them into evaluation and training products.
This is a hybrid role reporting to an Engineering Manager.

Waymo develops autonomous driving technology and the Waymo Driver for autonomous ride-hail services and other vehicle platforms.
The Waymo Driver has completed more than ten million rider-only trips and autonomously driven more than 100 million miles on public roads.
Team and role overview
The Simulator team builds realistic simulations for testing and training the Waymo Driver.

Responsibilities
- Advance ultra-realistic autonomous-vehicle simulations using foundation models.
- Collaborate with Waymo Oxford teams to improve simulation realism with large models.
- Design experiments and develop metrics for evaluating simulated-world realism.
