Job Summary
The Senior Finance Officer will manage corporate financial functions and the Chairman’s personal finance matters.
The role covers project estimation, manpower costing, contract commercial terms, cash flow, invoicing, tax compliance, general ledger oversight, and MIS reporting.
The position requires confidentiality, precision, multitasking, independence, and support for senior leadership.
Location and Department
- The role is based in Abu Dhabi.
- The position belongs to the Accounts/Finance department.
Banking and Treasury Management
- Manage banking relationships and act as the main contact for banking matters.
- Handle term loans, overdrafts, guarantees, and other financial instruments.
- Monitor cash flow, liquidity, and fund utilization.
- Maintain registers for bank guarantees, performance and advance-payment bonds, and letters of credit.
- Manage corporate insurance policies, renewals, project coverage, and claims coordination.
- Monitor banking covenants and prepare information for banks and financial institutions.
Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Prepare P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
- Provide financial insights to support decisions by the Chairman and management.
- Conduct variance analysis and comment on financial results.
- Prepare monthly MIS packs and dashboards covering project profitability, ageing, and financial KPIs.
- Manage month-end and year-end close, including accruals, prepayments, provisions, intercompany balances, and reconciliations.
Budgeting and Financial Modeling
- Develop, monitor, and update annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
- Create financial models for project costing, investment analysis, and scenario planning.
- Prepare project estimates covering direct costs, overheads, contingencies, escalation, and target margins.
- Maintain estimation assumptions and historical cost benchmarks and update unit rates.
- Calculate manpower costs and maintain man-hour rates used in project estimates.
- Track project cost-to-complete and report estimated versus actual project and manpower costs.
Invoicing and Accounting
- Prepare invoices based on project progress and contractual milestones and follow up on receivables.
- Process supplier, subcontractor, and consultant payments against progress claims, retention, and advance recovery.
- Maintain the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, depreciation, and physical verification.
- Oversee daily accounting functions and maintain accurate financial records.
- Process payroll and WPS transfers and maintain employee benefit accruals.
- Support audits, tax compliance, internal controls, licenses, registrations, and regulatory filings.
Chairman’s Accounts and Real Estate
- Handle the Chairman’s personal accounting matters confidentially.
- Manage cash flow, bank reconciliations, and statements for personal accounts.
- Maintain records of real estate assets, rental income, maintenance costs, renewals, and tenancy contracts.
- Coordinate with property agents, tenants, and service providers on asset-related matters.
Collaboration and Other Duties
- Work with project and operations teams to align financial planning with business goals.
- Advise the Chairman on financial implications and recommend solutions.
- Supervise the Senior Accountant, allocate workload, and provide coaching.
- Maintain accounting software and review contracts, tenders, and proposals for commercial risks.
- Handle ad hoc financial projects and tasks assigned by the Chairman.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
- ACCA, CMA, or ACA qualification, fully or part-qualified.
- Minimum eight years of relevant finance experience, ideally in the AEC industry.
- Strong knowledge of banking products, loan management, and financial negotiations.
- Proficiency in financial modeling and advanced Microsoft Excel.
- Experience with project costing, manpower costing, profitability analysis, UAE tax, WPS, IFRS, and accounting software.
- Ability to interpret commercial terms in contracts and tenders and identify financial risks.
- Prior experience supervising junior accounting staff.
- Excellent communication, analytical, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
- Fluency in English; Arabic is an added advantage.
