Senior Engineering Manager, Content Platform

This role is designated as a Standard access position. Access to systems requires successful completion of enhanced identity verification and is maintained through periodic review in alignment with Siteimprove’s FedRAMP compliance standards.

Ownership at Distance: A group whose outcomes you owned while the people setting direction sat elsewhere. We want evidence of decisions you made rather than escalated, because waiting would have cost more than being wrong. This role also asks for a standing weekly overlap in your late afternoon, when the Seattle day begins, so that the conversation with your director is a working one.

Systems Depth: 7+ years in backend engineering, with real depth in distributed systems, high-throughput data ingestion, or crawling at scale. Comfort establishing how an undocumented system behaves before changing it, and the instinct to reach for AI to do that quickly.

Leadership Through Leaders: 10+ years managing engineers, including senior technical leaders whose designs you reviewed rather than produced, and whose scope you expanded rather than absorbed.

Architectural Judgment: A track record of moving established services onto cloud-native infrastructure and of designing interfaces other teams build on. What matters is having lived with both long enough to know which decisions held and which leaked.

This is a hybrid role based in our Copenhagen office, with the opportunity to work from both the office and home. Our working language is English.

Travel may be required up to 5% of the time.

You will work across a nine-hour spread with product and engineering leadership in Seattle, and with peer teams in other Siteimprove locations. Your late afternoon overlaps the start of the Seattle day, and the role expects you to keep a weekly window there for goal-setting and progress discussions with leadership.
