We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Engineer – Dry Utilities to join our Transport & Infrastructure business unit in Abu Dhabi.
You will contribute to the design and delivery of major dry utilities infrastructure across large-scale infrastructure and land development projects within the Emirate.
The ideal candidate brings 7+ years of hands-on experience in dry utilities design—including electrical, telecom, and street lighting networks—and has strong, proven experience working on Abu Dhabi projects with a clear understanding of local authority standards, design manuals, and approval processes.
This role requires strong multidisciplinary coordination, technical expertise, and the ability to interface effectively with clients, contractors, and authorities.
Technical Design & Delivery
- Undertake the design of dry utilities networks including HV, MV, LV, street lighting, telecommunications, and ICT systems for infrastructure, urban development, and roads projects.
- Prepare engineering design packages including reports, drawings, calculations, models, BoQs, and technical specifications.
- Conduct load flow analysis, short circuit analysis, grounding system design, lightning protection, and relevant electrical calculations.
- Use industry design tools such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Dialux, ETAP, Amtech, Navisworks, and other relevant software to develop engineering deliverables.
- Ensure all designs comply with Abu Dhabi authority standards (e.g., ADDC, ADWEA, Etisalat, Du, ADM) and applicable international codes.
Coordination & Project Support
- Coordinate with internal disciplines (Civil, Structures, Roads, Wet Utilities, Environment, and Planning) to ensure integrated and clash‑free designs.
- Support project managers in preparing schedules, resource plans, and design programmes.
- Assist in risk and opportunity assessments for assigned projects.
- Participate in multidisciplinary technical meetings and provide clear engineering input.
Authority Engagement & Approvals
- Prepare and compile authority submission packages in accordance with Abu Dhabi requirements.
- Engage with local authorities to present design proposals, respond to technical queries, and secure approvals.
- Ensure timely progression of NOCs and design approvals.
Client & Stakeholder Interaction
- Support client presentations, workshops, and progress meetings.
- Communicate technical solutions clearly to clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Contribute to achieving high levels of client satisfaction and quality outcomes.
Team Contribution & Quality
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and CAD technicians.
- Ensure all work follows internal QA/QC processes and project-specific requirements.
- Review contractor shop drawings and materials submittals, providing clear recommendations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 7+ years of experience in dry utilities design, ideally within an engineering consultancy environment.
- Strong experience delivering dry utilities designs on Abu Dhabi infrastructure and land development projects.
- Solid understanding of Abu Dhabi authority procedures and approval workflows (ADDC, Etisalat, Du, ADM, etc.).
- Proficiency with design and analysis software including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Dialux, ETAP, Amtech, and MS Office.
- Strong communication, coordination, and technical report-writing skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
