Huawei Canada has a permanent opening for a Senior Engineer in its Distributed Scheduling and Data Engine Lab.
The role focuses on infrastructure for AI and agentic workloads across research, systems engineering, and product innovation.
Team context
The Distributed Scheduling and Data Engine Lab is Huawei Cloud's technical innovation center in Canada.
The lab researches cloud-native databases, intelligent SQL engines, AI and agent infrastructure, and LLM and agent evaluation technology.
The team supports productization and iterative optimization of its technical achievements.
Core responsibilities
- Track trends in LLMs, agentic AI, and multi-step agent workflows to guide infrastructure direction.
- Investigate bottlenecks across GPU or NPU utilization, data movement, memory hierarchy, and distributed execution.
- Design architectures for agent execution frameworks, multi-model orchestration, and large-scale inference.
- Evaluate AI and agent workloads on cloud and hybrid infrastructure across cost, performance, and scalability.
- Analyze distributed schedulers, inference pipelines, caching, and data access patterns.
- Collaborate with engineering and product teams to prototype and deliver production-ready, research-grounded solutions.
