Senior Electrical Engineer (Power/Low Voltage)

Role Overview

Design and Technical Review

• Prepare and review electrical scopes of work, design criteria, technical specifications, and employer requirements.
• Review consultant designs, single-line diagrams, load schedules, calculations, technical submittals, shop drawings, equipment selections, and design modifications.
• Review load-flow, short-circuit, protection-coordination, cable-sizing, voltage-drop, and earthing studies.
• Review power-distribution and low-voltage systems for capacity, selectivity, reliability, and safety.

Grid and Utility Coordination

• Lead technical review and follow-up for electrical grid-interconnection projects.
• Coordinate with Saudi Electricity Company and other authorities on connections, approvals, protection settings, interfaces, and energisation.
• Coordinate technical interfaces among utility providers, consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders.
• Resolve electrical design, connection, protection, and system-interface issues.

Project Delivery and Reporting

• Provide technical support during design, procurement, construction, testing, commissioning, and energisation.
• Monitor design progress and close technical comments and outstanding approvals on time.
• Prepare technical reports, review comments, design-risk registers, and engineering recommendations.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognised university.
• At least 15 years of relevant electrical engineering experience.
• Valid Saudi Council of Engineers registration.
• Hands-on experience in electrical design, technical review, and grid-interconnection projects.

Technical Experience

• Strong experience with MV distribution systems, substations, transformers, RMUs, switchgear, protection systems, metering, and utility interfaces.
• Strong knowledge of electrical studies covering load flow, short circuit, protection coordination, voltage drop, cable sizing, and earthing.
• Practical SEC or other major Saudi utility coordination experience is strongly preferred.
• Consultancy, design review, owner-side technical support, or engineering design department experience is preferred.

Tools, Standards, and Communication

• Proficiency in ETAP and AutoCAD; familiarity with Revit or other relevant electrical design tools is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of SEC requirements, IEC, IEEE, NFPA, NEC, and relevant Saudi regulations.
• Strong technical reporting, communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
• Good written and spoken English is required; Arabic is an advantage.
