Role Overview

Seeking a Senior Design System Engineer to lead development, implementation, and governance of an enterprise design system.

The role bridges design and engineering to improve consistency, scalability, accessibility, and reusability across digital products and platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, build, maintain, and evolve a scalable design system and reusable component library.
  • Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, product managers, and engineering teams.
  • Develop accessible, responsive, and reusable UI components.
  • Define standards, guidelines, best practices, and governance processes for design consistency.
  • Translate design tokens, patterns, and specifications into production-ready code.
  • Drive adoption across teams and business units while monitoring performance, scalability, usability, and accessibility.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership for front-end architecture decisions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field.
  • 5–10 years of experience in front-end engineering, UI engineering, or design system development.
  • Strong expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS3, and modern front-end frameworks.
  • Hands-on experience with React and component-based architecture.
  • Experience building enterprise-scale design systems.
  • Experience with Storybook, Figma, Git, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile development methodologies.
  • Knowledge of WCAG 2.1 accessibility standards and responsive design principles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with design system governance and adoption strategies.
  • Knowledge of micro-frontends and scalable UI architectures.
  • Experience integrating design systems across web and mobile platforms.
  • Familiarity with Jest, Cypress, or Playwright.
  • Experience in large enterprise or product-based environments.

Key Skills

  • Design systems, React.js, TypeScript, JavaScript, Storybook, Figma, design tokens, component libraries, WCAG accessibility, HTML5, CSS3, UI architecture, front-end development, Agile and Scrum, CI/CD, and Git.

Nice to Have

Experience with Angular or Vue.js.

Knowledge of Tailwind CSS or Material UI.

Experience with enterprise digital transformation initiatives.

Contributions to open-source design systems or component libraries.

Success Measures

Increased design system adoption and improved UI consistency and development efficiency.

Reduced design and development duplication.

Enhanced accessibility compliance and user experience.

Faster digital product delivery through reusable components.
