Purpose of the Role
Develop data governance controls using company governance solutions across data repositories and platforms.
Ensure data used in digital use cases and applications is accurate, trusted, and fit for decision-making.
Implement governance practices and workflows with business entities, data owners, stewards, custodians, digital teams, and information security.
Job Dimensions
Work across more than 100 data domains, 650 data families, and 100 data sources or solutions.
Manage four solutions and work with two service contracts.
Interface with data roles across 16 departments and support data literacy and end-user training.
Key Accountabilities
- Manage data governance solutions for data quality, data cataloging, and metadata management.
- Implement governance practices across AI, digital use cases, data platforms, and company solutions.
- Review vendor deliverables and communicate corrective actions.
- Enable organizational data literacy and upskilling.
- Evaluate governance for key data elements and data hosted in cloud environments.
Activities
- Define and implement governance processes, practices, and rules in tools such as Informatica.
- Implement governance for AI, advanced analytics, and digital use cases.
- Develop AI governance, observability, quality assurance, access controls, audit trails, monitoring, and risk remediation.
- Extract and profile metadata, manage domains and attributes, associate business terms, troubleshoot, and tune EDC performance.
- Analyze data, implement quality rules, and produce regularly updated scorecards.
- Manage metadata repositories, lineage, technical and business metadata, glossaries, and catalogs.
- Maintain governance maturity KPI dashboards and data certification tools.
- Support requirements definition, proof of concepts, architecture alignment, and data quality improvement actions.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Computer Science, or an engineering or business-related equivalent.
- 10 years of data management or governance experience, preferably in upstream oil and gas operations.
- 8 or more years of data governance project experience using governance tools such as Informatica.
- Deep petroleum operations data experience and understanding of related data sources.
- Strong Informatica Axon, IDQ, and EDC skills, including integration, lineage, data quality, workflows, and administration.
- Experience with databases, Informatica MDM, data integration, data modeling, and data architecture.
- Ability to solve technical problems, work in Agile environments, learn new technology, and communicate across diverse teams.
- Fluent English, spoken and written.
Governance Skills
- Data governance concepts including cataloging, profiling, ownership, stewardship, data quality, and data catalogs.
- Metadata standards, data lineage, data flows, business glossaries, data certification, and governance metrics.
- AI governance capabilities including agent access controls, audit trails, compliance configurations, model monitoring, bias, and drift.
