Must-Have Skills
- Data transformation and modeling, orchestration, data ingestion and loading.
- Query engines, storage, table formats, programming, and databases.
- Non-relational or NoSQL databases are required, not just exposure.
- Data formats, semi-structured data, distributed processing, scripting, Linux, and connectivity.
- Reliability patterns, security, governance, secrets, API and integration basics.
- Platform deployment, DevOps, operations, and troubleshooting.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Nessie or other data catalog versioning, and Iceberg or Delta internals.
- Apache Kafka or equivalent event streaming and streaming ingestion patterns.
- Metadata management, data lineage, and audit framework design.
- API integration platforms, OAuth2, and API-key authentication models.
- Data governance, data classification, and regulated or government data experience.
- Experience taking over or stabilizing a vendor-built or handed-over platform.
- Arabic working proficiency.
Responsibilities
- Own production data pipelines and at least one data platform or system end to end.
- Perform data transformation and modeling work.
- Build or operate orchestration, ingestion, and loading processes.
- Work across query engines, storage systems, table formats, databases, and distributed processing.
- Apply scripting, Linux, connectivity, and reliability patterns to data engineering operations.
- Support security, governance, secrets management, APIs, and integrations.
- Handle platform deployment, DevOps, operations, and troubleshooting.
- Potentially stabilize or take over vendor-built or handed-over data platforms.
Requirements
- 10+ years of hands-on data engineering experience with production pipeline ownership.
- Experience owning at least one platform or system end to end.
- Proficiency in data transformation and modeling.
- Experience with orchestration, data ingestion, and data loading.
- Experience with query engines, storage, and table formats.
- Programming and database experience, including non-relational or NoSQL databases.
- Knowledge of data formats, semi-structured data, and distributed processing.
- Experience with scripting, Linux, connectivity, and reliability patterns.
- Knowledge of security, governance, secrets, APIs, and integration basics.
- Experience with platform deployment, DevOps, operations, and troubleshooting.
