Job Summary

The Senior Data Analyst supports Northeastern University and Research Enterprise Services through data collection, analysis, interpretation, reporting, and process improvement.

The role develops advanced data models, predictive analyses, reports, and dashboards for internal and external stakeholders.

The analyst works with stakeholders to clarify reporting needs and communicate accurate results to technical and non-technical audiences.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject such as computer science, data science, mathematics, statistics, or information technology.
  • At least 3 years of experience querying databases and using SQL and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience developing dashboards with Tableau and/or Power BI and applying data visualization best practices.
  • Experience with data modeling, predictive analytics, project management, communication, teamwork, and problem solving.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments, meet deadlines, and communicate results clearly to non-technical audiences.
  • Understanding of and experience using AI-enabled tools to support daily work.
  • Experience with research administration data, process documentation, and electronic research administration systems is preferred.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Collect, assess, interpret, and report internal and external data for strategic, operational, resource allocation, and submission needs.
  • Develop reusable self-service reports and dashboards using Tableau, Tableau Prep, Tableau Server, Cognos, and other applicable platforms.
  • Manage data across legacy and current electronic research administration systems while maintaining continuity and accuracy.
  • Evaluate back-end system changes, monitor data quality, and support migration validation and reconciliation.
  • Identify process improvements and document data pipelines, reporting logic, and source-of-truth definitions.
  • Perform ad hoc research and analysis, including AI-assisted extraction, benchmarking, and cross-institutional collaborations.

Compensation

  • The expected hiring range is 90,075.00 to 139,620.00.
  • Starting salary depends on education, experience, location, knowledge, expertise, skills, and internal pay comparisons.
