The Gyori Lab for Computational Biomedicine at Northeastern University builds systems that accelerate scientific discovery by combining artificial intelligence with human expertise. The lab develops knowledge-grounded artificial intelligence, text mining and knowledge assembly, mathematical and systems modeling, and causal analysis. Research results are often deployed as widely used open-source software and services. The lab’s work is supported by a portfolio of federal and foundation grants spanning biomedical knowledge integration, global health, and artificial intelligence-assisted systems modeling. PhD or equivalent in computer science, computational biology, biomedical engineering, or a related field by the appointment start date
Expertise and a demonstrated track record in one or more of the following areas, or a combination of these areas: Knowledge-grounded artificial intelligence and knowledge graphs, including large language model (LLM) and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) approaches Systems and mathematical modeling of biological or complex systems Natural language processing and machine learning Data harmonization and integration
Record of research productivity evidenced by peer-reviewed publications, open-source software, or other scholarly outputs
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively on interdisciplinary teams
Interest in mentoring junior researchers
Strong scientific software development skills and a commitment to reproducible research practices
Experience applying computational methods to biomedicine or related domains
