Role Overview
AWS operates global data centers and is expanding its cloud infrastructure capacity.
The Senior Civil/Structural Substation Design Engineer will design, permit, and support construction of HV/MV substations and associated grid connections.
The role is part of the global Civil, Structural and Architectural Design Team.
Core Responsibilities
- Own the full civil, structural, and architectural scope for HV/MV substation and grid connection projects.
- Develop and maintain Bases of Design, prototype designs, and template specifications.
- Manage the design project portfolio and external design consultants through design and construction administration.
- Evaluate geotechnical reports and define investigation testing scopes.
- Create, review, and release HV/MV RFPs for external design consultants.
- Work with HV and electrical engineers on substation site layouts during data center master planning.
- Act as the owner's representative for schedule, budget, and quality during design delivery.
Design Review Scope
- Review civil designs for roads, drainage, civil site works, bulk earthworks, cut-and-fill analysis, and retaining walls.
