Role Overview

  • The Senior Buyer is tasked with overseeing and enhancing procurement strategies for an e commerce platform to ensure optimal balance between inventory, profitability, product availability, and warehouse readiness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing procurement strategy for products and ensuring alignment with sales and marketing plans.
  • Planning purchases based on sales data, market trends, product seasonality, and customer needs.
  • Analyzing sales performance metrics (Sales, Sell through, Margin, Stock coverage, Conversion, Returns) and making data driven purchasing decisions.
  • Negotiating with suppliers to secure the best prices and terms of supply (delivery time, shipping, guarantees, return/exchange policies).
  • Managing inventory levels in coordination with planning and logistics teams to minimize stockouts or excess inventory.
  • Monitoring product quality and ensuring compliance with brand standards and required specifications.
  • Coordinating with marketing and operations to ensure product readiness for promotions and campaigns.
  • Managing costs and profitability through improved purchasing terms, reviewing offers, and updating pricing structures.
  • Preparing regular reports for management on inventory status, purchasing forecasts, financial performance, and improvement plans.
  • Monitoring competitors and pricing, and providing recommendations to enhance competitiveness in the market.
  • Leading/supporting the buying team (if applicable) and distributing tasks and reviewing work plans.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in procurement/retail management within e commerce or retail.
  • Strong experience in data analysis and making data driven purchasing decisions.
  • Excellent understanding of concepts: Margin, Sell through, Inventory turns, Forecasting, SKU management.
  • Strong negotiation skills and good relationships with suppliers/partners.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in analytical tools and Excel at an advanced level (ERP/BI preferred).
