Role Overview
Build and operate highly reliable backend systems at significant scale, with core APIs and real-time data services where performance, availability, latency, and cost are critical.
Combine hands-on backend engineering with production Site Reliability Engineering ownership across design, implementation, deployment, incident response, and optimization.
Work remotely with a globally distributed team, collaborating asynchronously and mentoring other developers.
Accountabilities
- Design, develop, and optimize backend services for real-time data processing and web APIs.
- Define SLIs, SLOs, and error budgets for core API services.
- Build observability with metrics, structured logging, tracing, dashboards, and actionable alerts.
- Participate in on-call rotations, production incident response, and blameless post-incident reviews.
- Automate operational work and reduce recurring failures and toil.
- Perform capacity planning, load testing, performance analysis, and tuning.
- Investigate complex production and product issues and convert findings into improvements.
- Integrate backend components and collaborate across teams on platform reliability.
- Share best practices and improve engineering and operational processes.
