Role overview

Technology stack

• Core services use Python 3.13, FastAPI, SQLAlchemy 2, asyncpg, Alembic, and Pydantic.
• A Go payment service uses Gin, sqlc, hexagonal architecture, and architecture decision records.
• Data systems include PostgreSQL, database-per-service design, Row-Level Security, and TimescaleDB.

What you will do

• Design and build backend services and help move the Go payment service into production.
• Own features through API design, implementation, testing, migrations, rollout, dashboards, and alerts.
• Solve distributed-systems problems involving idempotency, retries, callbacks, outbox processing, dead-lettering, and reconciliation.
• Evolve multi-tenant PostgreSQL schemas safely against live tenant data using Row-Level Security.
• Build adapters around inconsistent partner APIs and expose accurate capability flags to the product.
• Implement precise handling of currencies, tax, fees, apportionment, refunds, and regional e-invoicing.
• Harden secrets, tenant isolation, event delivery, and real-time delivery using server-sent events.
• Build LLM-backed enrichment, classification, conversational, and reconciliation features with evaluations and guardrails.
• Lead incident response, write post-mortems, review code, create ADRs, mentor engineers, and improve coding-agent practices.

Core requirements

• At least 6 years building and running production backends with distributed or service-oriented systems experience.
• Strong Python and modern asynchronous framework experience; equivalent depth in Go, Java, C#, or TypeScript is acceptable with willingness to work in Python.
• PostgreSQL experience covering schemas, indexes, query plans, and safe migrations.
• Experience with asynchronous processing, message brokers, Redis, REST API versioning, backward compatibility, Docker, CI/CD, and observability.
• Demonstrated production ownership, on-call incident response, failure-path testing, and post-mortem writing.
• Daily coding-agent use, agent-facing documentation, and production LLM or agentic-pipeline experience with evaluations, guardrails, fallbacks, and budgets.

Preferred qualifications

• Production Go, Clean Architecture, or Domain-Driven Design experience is preferred.
• Multi-tenant SaaS, Row-Level Security, payments, fintech, and deep third-party integration experience are preferred.
• Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, AWS, Django, .NET, Windows services, Arabic, or Gulf-market experience are nice to have.
