Role Overview

Provide technical leadership for complex industrial automation solutions using PLCs, DCS, SCADA, BMS, edge devices, MES, data management, vision systems, and robotics.

Work within a multidisciplinary team serving life sciences and other manufacturing industries.

Apply engineering principles to varied assignments and make decisions about engineering complexity and methods.

Core Responsibilities

Perform site surveys, lead requirements definition, define project scope, and prepare estimates.
Design, develop, and implement process, utility, and building control systems for manufacturing operations.
Lead project teams developing functional specifications and detailed hardware and software design specifications.
Develop project plans, test plans, test scripts, test protocols, and test reports.
Build and qualify software development and production system environments.
Coordinate technical design and configuration activities and ensure adherence to procedures and standards.
Lead installation, start-up, testing, and qualification activities remotely or at customer sites.
Document design changes, resolve discrepancies and technical issues, and report project progress to the Project Manager.
Provide post-implementation support and training to clients.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or associate's degree in computer science or engineering, or equivalent training and relevant professional experience.
At least 10 years of experience deploying industrial automation solutions.
Experience with design specifications, software development, acceptance testing, commissioning, and qualification.
Experience designing and deploying industrial network infrastructure and IIoT solutions.
Formal certification with Rockwell, Aveva, or Siemens industrial platform solutions.
Knowledge of agile software development, relational databases, and listed industrial programming languages.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and leadership skills.
Fluent spoken and written English.
Experience with regulated industry requirements is preferred.
Willingness to travel to manufacturing and customer sites when required.

Technical Skills

Industrial platforms and systems include Rockwell, Aveva, Siemens, PLCs, DCS, SCADA, BMS, MES, edge devices, vision systems, and robotics.
Programming and data technologies may include Ladder Logic, Functional Block Diagram, Structured Text, Python, C#, C++, and MS SQL.

Work Context

The role includes site surveys, customer-site installation and start-up, manufacturing-site travel, and remote work during some activities.

Health, Safety, and Environment

Follow health, safety, and environmental procedures, use required protective equipment, report unsafe conditions and incidents, and assist with incident investigations.
