Role Overview

LTM is recruiting a Senior Architect Private Cloud for a six-month contract.

The role is based in Sheffield, UK, with a hybrid schedule of two days per week.

The position leads private cloud architecture and platform engineering across enterprise technology domains.

Responsibilities

  • Define private cloud architecture aligned with client cloud strategy.
  • Lead virtualization, containers, Kubernetes, Kafka, and microservices platform engineering.
  • Review designs for security, scalability, resilience, and cost effectiveness.
  • Establish standards, reference architectures, reusable patterns, and platform guardrails.
  • Design and evolve compute, storage, networking, orchestration, and platform services.
  • Own Kubernetes architecture decisions and workload onboarding strategies.
  • Establish GitOps, CI/CD, and configuration management standards.
  • Lead Kafka governance, resilience, schema management, monitoring, and capacity planning.
  • Guide microservices architecture, API contracts, and operational readiness.
  • Build self-service capabilities, golden paths, templates, and platform tooling.

Required Experience

  • Proven experience as a Senior Architect, Lead Engineer, Staff Engineer, Platform Architect, or equivalent.
  • Strong private cloud and platform engineering background.
  • Deep expertise in at least two of VMware or virtualization, Kubernetes and container platforms, or Kafka and event streaming platforms.
  • Strong Kubernetes and Kafka architecture and operations experience.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD practices.
  • Experience in regulated enterprise environments.
  • Strong stakeholder management, technical leadership, communication, and architecture documentation skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Service mesh technologies, API gateways, secrets management, policy as code, and observability platforms are desirable or preferred.
  • Platform-as-a-product capabilities, developer portals, self-service platforms, multiregion active-active architectures, and resilience testing are advantageous.
