About the role
General Motors is hiring a Senior Android Software Engineer for next-generation software-defined vehicles.
The role develops and maintains in-vehicle infotainment applications on Android Automotive OS.
The engineer owns major features through architecture, implementation, validation, launch, and OTA delivery.
Work arrangement
- The role is hybrid and requires reporting to the Markham Elevation Center at least three times per week, or at another business-directed frequency.
What you will do
- Design and develop in-vehicle infotainment applications.
- Own requirements, system design, development, deployment, and maintenance for the software domain.
- Define unit, integration, UI, bench, and in-vehicle test coverage.
- Apply modular Android architectures and collaborate on AOSP and AAOS customization.
- Diagnose issues across application, framework, and system layers.
- Influence system services, permissions, security, stability, performance, and developer efficiency.
- Build test automation for emulators and bench environments and integrate it with CI/CD.
- Lead reviews, mentor engineers, and champion engineering best practices.
