The Role
Build the AI systems behind Mairit's certified legal translation engine and apply the same discipline to Huscribe.
Work on multi-step pipelines with checks and human gates, evidence-based evaluation, model selection, and MCP tooling for customer agents.
Work alongside a senior backend engineer and mentor a junior AI engineer.
Workplace
- The role is on-site in Dubai.
What You'll Do
- Design and ship LLM pipelines with checks, retries, and human gates using LangGraph or similar.
- Build evaluation systems with test sets, graders, regression suites, and blind comparisons.
- Measure critical errors and reviewer time rather than relying on impressions.
- Choose models per pipeline step across providers based on quality and cost, pin versions, and document trade-offs.
- Build retrieval for terminology, exemplars, and policies with PostgreSQL and pgvector.
- Fine-tune and serve open models when they outperform hosted models on cost or control.
- Handle documents with OCR, vision cross-checks, layout processing, and rendering.
- Ship and maintain Mairit as an MCP tool for customer agent clients.
- Contribute evaluation and scoring to Huscribe.
- Apply provider terms, no-training controls, regional controls, ISO 27001 requirements, and SOC 2 obligations end to end.
What You Bring
- At least 4 years of software engineering experience, including at least 2 years shipping LLM systems used by real users.
- Experience building and operating multi-step, tool-using production agents.
- Experience building or integrating MCP servers or clients.
- Experience building evaluation harnesses that catch regressions before customers do.
- Strong Python and production habits, including tests, tracing, and cost and latency budgets.
- Production experience with retrieval and vector search.
- Ability to explain model choices to a founder and defend them to an engineer.
Nice to Have
- Fine-tuning and serving open models with LoRA or vLLM.
- Experience with prompt optimization frameworks such as DSPy.
- OCR and document AI experience.
- Arabic reading ability for legal translation work.
- Salesforce or Agentforce experience.
