About the Role

- Identify students requiring SEN support through various assessment methods and liaise with parents, teachers, and external specialists
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students in Cycle 3, ensuring alignment with the National Curriculum for England, IGCSE, and A Level expectations
- Provide high quality, differentiated instruction and intervention both in class and through withdrawal sessions, catering to a range of learning difficulties and special educational needs
- Collaborate closely with subject teachers to ensure effective differentiation of the British curriculum and implementation of accommodations
- Prepare and manage applications for IGCSE and A Level exam access arrangements in accordance with JCQ guidelines
- Maintain accurate and up to date records of student progress, interventions, and communications with parents and other stakeholders
- Contribute to the school's commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or a relevant subject area from a recognized university
- Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) or Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) from the UK, or equivalent teaching qualification from a British trained system
- A specialist qualification in Special Educational Needs (e.g., NASENCO Award, Master's in Special Education, or similar)
- Minimum of 3 years of full time teaching experience as a qualified SEN Teacher or Coordinator within a British curriculum school environment (National Curriculum for England, IGCSE, A Levels)
- Demonstrable experience working with students in Cycle 3 (secondary school age) with a range of special educational needs, including but not limited to dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADHD, and ASD
- Proven track record of successfully implementing and managing IEPs and supporting students through IGCSE and A Level qualifications
- Experience with preparing and managing exam access arrangements for external examinations (e.g., JCQ regulations)

Curriculum Knowledge
- In depth knowledge and practical experience of the National Curriculum for England framework, specifically its application and adaptation for students with SEN in Cycle 3.
- Thorough understanding of the requirements and assessment procedures for IGCSE and A Levels, including specific knowledge of exam boards (e.g., Cambridge, Pearson Edexcel) and access arrangements (JCQ).
- Ability to integrate SEN support effectively within the context of a challenging British curriculum.

- Compliance with all regulations and standards set forth by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), including teacher licensing and professional development requirements.
