Responsibilities
- Section Head Fire
- Fire Safety Management:
- Oversee fire safety for high-risk areas, particularly fuel storage zones, to prevent fire incidents.
- Ensure the standardization of firefighting equipment and appliances, maintaining readiness at all times.
- Lead fire risk assessments and implement control management strategies to meet international benchmarks.
- Liaise with neighbouring fire services and other agencies like Mutual Aid Response Group (MARG) for collaborative efforts.
- Conduct SRFA audits and facilitate technical audits at site.
- Develop and manage the budget for the fire safety department, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation.
- Plan and prepare technical specifications for fire-fighting equipment and appliances according to existing code of practice in fire service.
- Emergency Response and Training:
- Manage the fire team during emergencies, providing leadership in fire and rescue operations.
- Organize regular fire drills, mock drills, and disaster management exercises to ensure staff preparedness.
- Develop and maintain SOPs for firefighting equipment and life-saving gear, ensuring high adequacy and readiness.
- Conduct fire incident investigations and carry out mitigation plans for hazardous processes.
- Train all security, fire and safety staff, as well as employees, on first aid, firefighting, and evacuation procedures.
- Ensure the completion of mandatory training as per CEA regulation for all fire safety personnel.
- Actively contribute to the Emergency Preparedness part in the PSM subcommittee.
- Observe National Fire Service Week, ensuring participation and event organization.
- Ensure active participation in CEC-FPM as a committee member.
- Equipment and Infrastructure Oversight:
- Ensure the development and maintenance of fire stations and the fire service fleet.
- Plan and prepare technical specifications for firefighting equipment, maintaining critical spares and consumables.
- Facilitate technical audits at the site and ensure the maintenance of fire protection systems.
- Ensure maintenance of the fire service vehicles.
- Business Sustainability:
- Ensure adherence to IMS, AWMS, DISHA and CHETNA guidelines within the department.
- Ensure the implementation of Business Excellence initiatives like 5S, QC, IMS, etc.
- Maintain safety of personnel and equipment through proper training and adherence to safety protocols.
- Follow up on audit compliances conducted by the Fire Safety team.
- Ensure strict adherence to statutory compliances as per applicable mandates and the Fire Prevention and Life Safety Measures Act.
- Conduct detailed reviews and audits of firefighting systems as per OISD, BIS, TAC, NFPA, and NBC guidelines.
- Document fire service activities in compliance with statutory regulations, prepare and submit monthly MIS and ORT data.
- Ensure working on SAP and other modules as per requirement of Fire Safety.
- Digitization and Automation:
- Lead and execute comprehensive digitization strategies to optimize operational efficiency.
- Innovate and ensure implementation of automation solutions to support overall organizational goals/strategy.
- Review and oversee the implementation of process and system improvements, adopting newer technologies and innovative ideas.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Fire/B.tech in Fire & Safety or Sub officer fire/station officer fire (Certifications) from a recognized institution.
- Work Experience (Range of years):
- 12+ years of experience in fire safety management, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role within a power plant or similar industrial setting.
- Preferred Industry:
- Experience in the power generation industry or other high-risk industrial sectors such as oil, gas, or chemical manufacturing.
- Educational Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Fire/B.tech in Fire & Safety or Sub officer fire/station officer fire (Certifications) from a recognized institution. Work Experience (Range of years): 12+ years of experience in fire safety management, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role within a power plant or similar industrial setting. Preferred Industry: Experience in the power generation industry or other high-risk industrial sectors such as oil, gas, or chemical manufacturing.
