Role Overview
Support safe and efficient scrub assistance during ophthalmic surgical procedures.
Maintain strict aseptic technique and ensure instruments, equipment, and supplies are prepared and available.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating theatre, instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies for ophthalmic surgeries.
- Scrub and assist ophthalmologists during cataract, glaucoma, retinal, and other eye surgeries.
- Maintain the sterile field and follow infection-control and aseptic protocols.
- Perform instrument, needle, and swab counts before and after procedures.
- Handle ophthalmic instruments, IOLs, sutures, medications, and consumables safely.
- Assist with patient positioning, surgical preparation, draping, and transfer to recovery.
- Clean, sterilize, store, and handle instruments properly.
- Maintain accurate operating-theatre documentation and surgical records.
- Monitor stock and report damaged or defective instruments or equipment.
- Follow facility policies, patient-safety standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in nursing.
- Valid DHA RN license or eligibility for Dubai is preferred.
- OT or Scrub Nurse experience is required.
- Ophthalmology experience is preferred.
- Good knowledge of ophthalmic instruments, sterile technique, and infection control.
Work Location
- Work is performed in person.
