Scientist/ Research Technologist

Displays knowledge of their field of work; can solve routine technical/engineering problems but may require guidance when it is non-routine. *(theories, principles and tools)

Contributes towards the advancement of projects or initiatives resulting in efficiency gains or improvements using scientific or engineering methods in various core competencies. Based on data and strong technical evaluation, provides fundamental understanding and/or demonstrates ability to improve a process or extends state-of-the-art equipment.

7. Protects institutional knowledge & intellectual property

Contributor as a primary author on at least one formal written report or living document commonly used as a reference ** per year. Has documented at least one example of intellectual property***.

** For example: R-Reports, NTRs, knowledge retention database reports, engineering-reports, posters, technical presentations, user guides, SOPs, etc.

*** For example: characterization technique, measurement system, model, patent application, data management /data engineering system, invention disclosure, process or product innovation, trade secret, or software asset, etc.
