Responsibilities

  • Monitor OHS performance and set realistic objectives for improvements working with departments HOD’s, Management, Supervisors and staff.
  • Support the Workplace Safety Manager in Safety campaigns and develop internal departmental safety campaigns to improve OHS performance and reduce risks.
  • Assist the business in the absence of the Workplace Safety Manager and support other Safety Specialists as required.
  • Ensure the Behaviour based Safety Management program is working and ensure adequate staff resources are trained in designated departments to support KPI targets.
  • Assist in conducting periodic fire evacuation drills, liaison with external regulator authority & service providers.
  • Investigate and aid in accidents and incidents involving injury to EKFC employees, contractors & visitors; analyze causes and develop preventive measures.
  • Attend Health and Safety Committee meetings to monitor remedial actions and compliance with legislation and company policies.
  • Assist the Workplace Safety Manager in designing and delivering safety training programs in collaboration with the L&D Department.
  • Apply the Occupational Health and Safety international standard ISO 45001:2018, conduct audits to ensure compliance and assist management during external client audits.

Qualifications

  • NEBOSH International/General certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (Must)
  • Lead Auditor 45001:2018 (Must)
  • Member of IOSH or other recognised Safety Organisation (Desirable)
  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Management or suitable alternative qualification (Must)
  • Minimum of 6 years of related experience in a similar role; preferably within catering, aviation or manufacturing operations.
  • Understanding of Occupational Health and Safety issues and legislation.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of current health and safety legislation and best practice, with extensive experience of policy development, risk assessment and workplace audit.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
  • Able to develop and maintain trust and confidence.
  • Competent in use of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
