Role Overview

Support Health, Safety and Environment activities in a luxury yacht manufacturing and shipyard environment.

Work across yacht construction, assembly, outfitting, testing, and commissioning activities.

Coordinate with Production, Engineering, Quality, Facilities, subcontractors, and project teams to maintain a safe workplace.

Shipyard Production Safety

  • Monitor HSE compliance across yacht construction, production, assembly, and outfitting areas.
  • Inspect workshops, production halls, vessels, docks, and other shipyard work areas.
  • Identify unsafe conditions and acts, support corrective actions, and ensure safe practices for employees and contractors.
  • Provide HSE support during hull construction, structural assembly, machinery installation, interior outfitting, testing, and commissioning.

High-Risk Activities

  • Manage Permit-to-Work requirements for hot work, welding, cutting, grinding, confined-space entry, work at height, and scaffolding.
  • Control lifting and rigging, electrical isolation and LOTO, painting and chemical handling, pressure testing, and commissioning activities.
  • Verify risk assessments, control measures, PPE, and emergency arrangements before high-risk activities begin.

Composite and Chemical Safety

  • Monitor safety during FRP lamination, resin mixing, bonding, sanding, grinding, and composite fabrication.
  • Ensure safe storage, handling, and disposal of resins, catalysts, solvents, paints, adhesives, and other hazardous chemicals.
  • Review Safety Data Sheets and monitor ventilation, PPE, dust, fumes, VOCs, and other occupational exposure controls.

Risk and Compliance

  • Prepare and review risk assessments, Job Safety Analyses, Job Hazard Analyses, and method statements.
  • Maintain HSE documentation, inspection records, permits, and compliance reports.
  • Support compliance with UAE HSE regulations, fire and civil defence requirements, company procedures, and maritime or shipyard safety standards.
  • Support internal and external HSE audits.

Incident and Equipment Safety

  • Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions using root-cause analysis.
  • Track corrective and preventive actions, prepare reports and safety statistics, and identify recurring trends.
  • Monitor cranes, forklifts, mobile equipment, chain blocks, machine guarding, production machinery, and safe movement of yacht components.

Emergency and Safety Culture

  • Conduct fire-prevention inspections and ensure firefighting equipment, emergency equipment, escape routes, and exits remain accessible.
  • Support emergency-response and evacuation procedures and participate in fire, evacuation, confined-space rescue, and other drills.
  • Conduct HSE inductions, toolbox talks, and safety awareness sessions while coaching supervisors and production personnel.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A bachelor's degree or diploma in Safety Engineering, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related technical discipline is required.
  • Typically 3–5+ years of HSE or safety experience is expected.
  • NEBOSH IGC, IOSH, OSHA, or an equivalent recognized HSE certification is preferred.
