Job Summary
Support the coffee roasting process, maintain consistent quality, and ensure roasted coffee meets standards for flavor, aroma, and freshness.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and monitor coffee roasting equipment safely and efficiently.
- Prepare and store green coffee beans appropriately.
- Follow roasting profiles and adjust them when required.
- Monitor roasting time, temperature, and development.
- Conduct quality checks and cupping.
- Record batches, profiles, quantities, and quality observations.
- Maintain green and roasted coffee inventory.
- Keep the roastery, equipment, and work areas clean and organized.
- Report equipment issues and maintenance requirements.
- Collaborate with coffee and operations teams to maintain product consistency.
- Assist with new roasting profiles and coffee blends.
- Follow food safety, hygiene, health, and workplace safety procedures.
Requirements
- Previous experience in coffee roasting or a specialty coffee environment.
- Knowledge of coffee beans, roasting processes, and coffee quality.
- Ability to understand and follow roasting profiles.
- Basic knowledge of cupping and sensory evaluation.
- Attention to detail and commitment to consistency.
- Ability to operate roasting equipment safely.
- Communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Specialty coffee certification or relevant training is an advantage.
