Resident Engineer

Overview

Role Responsibilities

• Lead project site supervision and manage multidisciplinary engineering and inspection teams.
• Ensure construction complies with approved designs, contracts, codes, quality standards, schedules, and HSSE requirements.
• Monitor contractors, progress, productivity, milestones, risks, quality, safety, and contractual obligations.
• Review technical submissions, RFIs, contractor claims, variations, payment applications, and completed works.
• Coordinate stakeholders and authorities, lead meetings, and resolve technical and construction issues.
• Oversee testing, commissioning, operational readiness, snagging, de-snagging, handover, reporting, and staff development.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 20 years of overall construction and engineering experience and 10 years as a Resident Engineer on major building developments.
• Experience with large-scale buildings, convention centers, hospitality developments, hotels, resorts, mixed-use developments, or commercial complexes.
• Experience in site supervision consultancy, PMC, or engineering consultancy environments.
• Knowledge of international building codes, construction standards, quality systems, construction methodologies, project controls, and risk management.
• Experience with FIDIC administration, contractor claims, variations, commissioning, handover, and complex stakeholder environments.
• English fluency is required; Arabic language skills are advantageous.

Preferred Qualifications

• A master's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Project Management is preferred.
• Professional Engineer, Chartered Engineer, PMP, or equivalent certification is highly desirable.
• Previous experience in Saudi Arabia or the GCC region is highly preferred.
