Resident Engineer

Overview

Responsibilities

• Lead site supervision and manage civil, structural, architectural, MEP, infrastructure, and specialist supervision teams.
• Ensure construction complies with approved drawings, specifications, contracts, codes, standards, and statutory requirements.
• Review contractor submissions, monitor performance and progress, and track schedules, milestones, risks, and mitigation.
• Lead progress meetings, technical workshops, stakeholder coordination, and resolution of RFIs and site constraints.
• Ensure QA/QC and HSSE procedures are implemented and coordinate with authorities, utilities, operators, and stakeholders.
• Review and certify progress reports, payment applications, completed works, variations, claims, and EOT requests.
• Oversee testing, commissioning, integrated system testing, operational readiness, snagging, de-snagging, and handover.
• Prepare monthly reports covering progress, quality, safety, commercial matters, and project risks.
• Mentor supervision staff and maintain professional and technical standards.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum 20+ years of construction and engineering project experience.
• Minimum 10 years as a Resident Engineer on major building developments.
• Experience with large-scale buildings, convention centers, hospitality, luxury hotels, resorts, mixed-use developments, or commercial complexes.
• Experience in site supervision consultancy, PMC, or engineering consultancy environments.
• Knowledge of international building codes, construction standards, FIDIC contract administration, and construction management.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary teams, complex stakeholders, contractor claims, variations, project controls, and risk management.
• Fluency in English is required; Arabic is advantageous.

Additional Skills

• Strong leadership, communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, construction sequencing, testing, commissioning, and handover capabilities.
• Proficiency in project management and reporting software applications.
• A master's degree, PE, Chartered Engineer, PMP, or equivalent certification is preferred or desirable.
• Saudi Arabia or GCC experience is highly preferred.
