Responsibilities
- Provide safe and compassionate care during antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal, and newborn periods
- Monitor progress of labouring mothers, perform CTG monitoring, and interpret foetal heart rates
- Assist with spontaneous vaginal deliveries, instrumental deliveries, and caesarean deliveries
- Perform immediate post delivery care of mother and newborn
- Provide education and support for breastfeeding and skin to skin bonding
- Assess and identify patient needs, implement and monitor medical plans
- Administer medications and treatments, monitor for side effects
- Provide bereavement support during end of life care
Requirements
- Registered Midwife qualification and licensure
- Experience in antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal, and newborn care
- Competency in CTG monitoring and interpretation
- Basic Life Support certification
- Knowledge of WHO Mother Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative

Role Summary
- The post holder will always work within the scope of practice, putting the health, wellbeing and safety of their patient first as they assess, plan, implement and evaluate their needs.
Registered Midwife Responsibilities
- Practice in accordance with regulator Scope of Practice, ensuring completion of all competencies and required clinical privileging.
- Provide care to the woman and newborn in different practice settings.
- Provide safe and compassionate care during antenatal, intrapartum, postnatal, and newborn periods.
- Provide safe and EBP care in relation to spontaneous vaginal deliveries, assist with instrumental vaginal deliveries, and caesarean deliveries.
- Assist the obstetrician with required procedures or perform as per scope of practice.
- Monitor progress of labouring mothers, perform CTG monitoring and interpret findings.
- Support women during childbirth, knowledgeable regarding stem cell collection and monitoring.
- Perform immediate post delivery care of mother and newborn.
- Support, promote, and protect the ten steps within the WHO Mother Baby Friendly Hospital Initiative.
- Provide education and support strategies for breastfeeding and skin to skin bonding.
- Assess and identify patients' needs, implement and monitor medical plan.
- Administer medications and treatments, monitor for side effects.
