About the Role
Vertiv is seeking an R&D / Product Development Engineer to drive innovation in busbar trunking products. The role involves defining product specifications, 3D modeling, prototyping, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

- Define product specifications, features, and functionalities, ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory standards.

- Perform 3D modeling and 2D drafting of product designs.

- Conduct Product Risk Assessment through DFMEA.
- Follow Engineering change process for existing products.
- Collaborate with Offering Management, Marketing, Sales teams and external suppliers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical engineering or equivalent
- 3 5 years of design experience in NPDI/NPD/NPI or switchgear/busbar industry, or 5 7 years in automotive/manufacturing
- Proficiency in 3D modeling using Creo, Solidworks or equivalent
- Experience with power distribution applications or data center industry is advantageous
- Knowledge of DFM, DFA, DFE
- Experience with Engineering data management systems (PDM/PD Cloud)

Job Summary
- Seeking a dynamic R&D / Product Development Engineer to contribute to innovation and enhancement of busbar trunking product line.
- Role involves frequent interaction with Offering Management, Marketing, Sales teams and other internal departments.
Responsibilities
- Define product specifications, features, and functionalities, while ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
- Develop product designs in accordance to Product Standards (e.g., IEC61439 & UL857).
- 3D modelling and 2D drafting of product designs.
- Align with the culture of innovation within the product development team.
- Work closely with external suppliers and partners to source components and materials.
- Adherence to the department's NPDI process and completion of relevant documentation.
- Stay current with technological advancements and industry developments.
- Build prototypes to support the development of product design.
- Follow the Engineering change process for existing products.
- Product Risk Assessment through DFMEA.
- Organization of drawings and documentation for efficient reference.
- Timely, accurate responses to requests for design information and drawings.
Qualifications / Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical engineering/design technology or equivalent.
- Proficiency in 3D modelling using Creo, Solidworks or equivalent 3D design package.
- 3D modeling, 2D drafting (first angle and Third angle projection), GD&T.
- Proficiency in product lifecycle management (PLM) software.
- Strong organization skills, ability to multitask in a fast paced environment.
- Excellent written & verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Must be action & detail oriented with strong problem resolution, analysis, & decision making skills.
Experience Required
- 3–5 years of design experience in NPDI/NPD/NPI or the Switchgear/busbar industry; or 5–7 years in Automotive or Manufacturing sector.
- Experience with power distribution applications and/or the data center industry is advantageous.
- Experience designing mild steel sheet welded assemblies, extruded/injection molded plastic parts and assemblies.
- Knowledge of DFM, DFA, DFE.
- Knowledge of Process flow, PFMEA, Control plan, Standard Operating Procedure preparation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, Smartsheet, and other business applications are desirable.
- Experience with Engineering data management systems (PDM/PD Cloud, etc).
