About the Role
Eclipse Automation is seeking a Quality Technician Co-op to assist with inspections of purchased parts, subassemblies, and finished products using standard measurements. Responsibilities
- Examine products and materials for defects or deviations from specifications
- Operate Coordinate Measuring Machines, laser tracker, portable measuring arms using Pc dmis and Polyworks software
- Work with Quality Engineers and Quality Manager to determine best practices for quality control
- Inspect welded joints for defects and conformance with drawing specifications
- Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data
- Engage in continuous improvement programs for production processes and quality management systems
- Approve incoming materials by confirming specifications and conducting visual and measurement tests
- Document inspection results by completing reports and logs; inputting data into quality database
- Monitor critical equipment and instrumentation to ensure proper operation and calibration
- Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures
- Assist in writing and updating inspection procedures, protocol and checklists
- Evaluate problems and make initial recommendations for corrective action
Requirements
- Enrolled in post secondary school in QA/QC or related discipline at the College level or relative experience
- Working knowledge of measurement instruments
- Good arithmetic skills
- Mechanical aptitude desired
- General proficiency of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word

The Position
- The Quality Technician co op will assist with inspections of purchased parts, subassemblies or finished company products.
- Incumbent will work with production management to provide feedback regarding accuracy of procedures.
What You’ll Be Doing Technical
- Examine products and materials for defects or deviations from specifications.
- Operate Coordinate Measuring Machines, laser tracker, portable measuring arms using Pc dmis and Polyworks software.
- Work with Quality Engineers and Quality Manager to determine best practices for quality control.
- Inspect welded joints for visible defects, correct dimensions, bead formation and conformance with drawing specification.
- Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data; making recommendations.
- Engage in proactive measures such as continuous improvement programs.
- Work with supply chain to ensure quality of raw materials, components or sub assemblies.
- Drive 'Zero Defect' mentality.
- Approve incoming materials by confirming specifications; conducting visual and measurement tests.
- Document inspection results by completing reports and logs; inputting data into quality database.
- Monitor critical equipment and instrumentation to ensure proper operation and calibration.
- Maintain safe and healthy work environment.
Project Execution
- Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to balance priorities and work under short timelines.
- Adhere to all Health and Safety rules and procedures.
- Ability to work in a team environment and actively participate in group meetings.
- Complete other duties and projects as assigned.
- Ensure scheduled milestones are met.
- Notify appropriate departments if milestones are not met.

What We’re Looking For Education
- Enrolled in post secondary school in QA/QC or related discipline at the College level or relative experience.
Experience
