About the Role
Eclipse Automation is seeking a Mechanical Design Co-op student to work on custom automated manufacturing solutions. The role involves performing engineering calculations, producing drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks, and supporting project execution.

Responsibilities
- Perform engineering calculations with respect to strength of materials, speeds, horsepower, temperature, pressure, force, etc. as related to machine and tool designs
- Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to determine shape, dimensions, hardness etc. in development of equipment, processes and products
- Examine feasibility of using one or more machines to carry out sequential operations
- Produce working drawings, detail drawings and bills of materials for equipment, sub assemblies or product using AutoCAD and SolidWorks
- Analyze designs and systems for compliance to applicable standards (i.e. OSHA, CE or customer specific)
- Review drawings for accuracy, material selection, proper machining techniques, finishes, hardness, etc.
- Liaise with vendors for technical information and specifications
- Communicate all requested design changes to the Applications Manager
- Contribute accurate documentation for each project
- Ensure scheduled milestones are met and notify appropriate departments if milestones are not projected to be met
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a post secondary engineering degree, diploma or equivalent, specializing in mechanical, electrical, systems or computer engineering
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to establish priorities and work without supervision
- Understanding of robotics, control systems and machine operation with hands on experience is desirable
- Students should be enrolled in a post secondary academic program requiring a co op/work term

The Position
- Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Design Co op will work directly with Mechanical Design Lead and Design teams.
- The incumbent will work with management and department personnel to deliver the Eclipse Vision and the Eclipse Entrepreneurial Culture.
Technical Responsibilities
- Perform engineering calculations with respect to strength of materials, speeds, horsepower, temperature, pressure, force, etc.
- Analyze engineering drawings and specifications to determine shape, dimensions, hardness etc.

Project Execution
- Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work within a team environment and actively participate in group meetings.
- Complete other duties and projects as assigned.
- Ensure scheduled milestones are met.
- Notify the appropriate departments if milestones are not projected to be met by expected due dates.
- Adhere to the Eclipse Project Operating Policy.

What We’re Looking For
- Currently enrolled in a post secondary engineering degree, diploma or equivalent, specializing in mechanical, electrical, systems or computer engineering.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability to establish priorities and work without supervision.
- Understanding of robotics, control systems and machine operation with hands on experience is desirable.
- A self starter with the ability to work as part of a team in a fast paced environment with minimal supervision.
- Students should be enrolled in a post secondary academic program requiring a co op/work term.
