Role Overview
The Quality Technician reports to the QA Manager within the Quality department.
The role performs pre-operational inspections and verifies food safety and quality from raw material receipt through production and shipment.
The position has authority to stop food manufacturing when unsafe conditions or compromised product quality are identified.
Compensation
- The pay range is $45,500 to $75,900 plus bonus.
- The role includes comprehensive benefits, retirement savings, paid vacation, and other perks and opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete daily quality tasks and testing accurately and on time.
- Prepare samples, media, and buffers for analysis.
- Test raw materials, in-process products, and finished products using chemical, microbiological, and organoleptic methods.
- Conduct product testing and environmental monitoring.
- Release conforming products and communicate out-of-specification results.
- Produce customer reports and investigate assigned customer complaints.
- Perform plant inspections and maintain scheduled quality activities.
- Maintain Quality, Food Safety, and SQF systems, including SOPs and records.
- Enter chemistry and microbiological data and maintain accurate product release records.
- Maintain laboratory equipment, cleanliness, and supplies.
- Work with production staff on sanitation, hygiene, product quality, GMPs, and training.
- Attend prescribed courses and complete other duties assigned by management.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of food industry experience.
- Bachelor of Science degree or diploma in Microbiology or Food Science.
- Knowledge of microbiological procedures and autoclaving techniques.
- Knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, allergens, and food security.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Flexible schedule, weekend availability, and own transportation.
