Position Overview
The Operations Supervisor leads production and maintenance staff during assigned plant shifts.
The role is a hands-on weekend position focused on safety, quality, cost, efficiency, productivity, and continuous improvement.
The supervisor reports to the Operations Manager and works with the Production Management Team.
Status and Schedule
- The position is full-time and based at the Guelph–Delta location.
- The schedule is 12-hour shifts from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
- The schedule also includes an 8-hour Monday shift from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., with some flexibility.
- The role requires flexible shift coverage and overtime as needed.
Key Accountabilities
- Supervise all shift staff, including training, workload planning, production scheduling, coaching, and progressive discipline where required.
- Enforce health and safety practices and prevent accidents, incidents, and near misses.
- Coordinate sanitation, hygiene, GMP, food safety, quality control, and quality assurance activities.
- Support Lean Manufacturing and process excellence initiatives.
- Authorize and monitor employee time, attendance, and payroll information.
- Maintain preventive-maintenance programs and produce operating, efficiency, and production reports.
- Validate production and CIP records.
- Communicate with direct reports and coordinate with operational and corporate departments.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of post-secondary education or at least 5 years of related experience.
- At least 3 years of supervisory experience in a HACCP-regulated dairy, food, or beverage processing environment.
- Knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, MSS, sanitation, hygiene, and food manufacturing practices.
- Familiarity with total quality management and continuous improvement processes.
- Decision-making, problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting ability, and experience with automated machinery.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to multitask and perform the physical demands of the job.
Compensation and Benefits
- The pay range is $75,300 to $125,300 plus bonus.
