Role Overview
The role is for an experienced QC Inspector specializing in coating and painting inspection.
The inspector will perform quality control for surface preparation, blasting, painting, and coating works.
The role requires compliance with approved specifications, ITPs, procedures, manufacturer requirements, and applicable industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect surface preparation, abrasive blasting, painting, and coating activities.
- Verify surface cleanliness, profile, environmental conditions, dew point, humidity, and substrate condition.
- Conduct WFT, DFT, adhesion, holiday detection, dust, and soluble salt testing as applicable.
- Verify paint materials, batch details, shelf life, mixing, thinning, and storage requirements.
- Monitor coating application, curing, re-coating intervals, stripe coating, and repairs.
- Identify coating defects and follow up corrective actions.
- Review coating procedures, paint data sheets, material certificates, and inspection records.
- Raise and follow up RFIs, NCRs, punch-list items, and inspection reports.
- Coordinate with clients, third-party inspectors, subcontractors, and painting teams.
- Maintain inspection records and support final inspection and project handover.
- Ensure compliance with NACE/AMPP, SSPC, ISO, ASTM, project, and client requirements.
Requirements
- A diploma or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a relevant discipline is required.
- Valid NACE/AMPP Coating Inspector Level 2 certification is required.
- At least five years of coating inspection experience in specified industrial project sectors is required.
- Strong knowledge of blasting, surface preparation, protective coating systems, and inspection equipment is required.
- Good knowledge of coating specifications, ITPs, procedures, and quality documentation is required.
- CSWIP, BGAS, or NDT Level II certification is an added advantage.
