Role overview

The Field Expeditor will be based in the company’s India office.

The role monitors and expedites assigned long-lead items for engineering, procurement, and construction projects from purchase order placement through site delivery.

The role coordinates with vendors, procurement, engineering, quality, logistics, and project teams to support timely delivery.

Key responsibilities

  • Monitor vendor manufacturing progress against schedules, purchase order milestones, and planned delivery dates.
  • Coordinate updates on engineering, procurement, manufacturing, testing, inspections, factory acceptance testing, equipment release, and overall progress.
  • Review schedules, track actual versus planned progress, and identify delays, risks, and deviations early.
  • Follow up on drawings, data sheets, calculations, and other engineering and manufacturing documents.
  • Conduct or coordinate vendor visits to verify manufacturing progress, material readiness, inspections, and testing.
  • Maintain expediting reports, progress updates, photographs, and long-lead item trackers.
  • Escalate delays and coordinate recovery plans with vendors and project teams.
  • Coordinate inspections, release, packing, shipping documentation, dispatch, and delivery of long-lead items.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Engineering, Supply Chain, Procurement, or a related field.
  • 10 years of field or vendor expediting experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, energy, marine, or EPC projects.
  • Experience in long-lead item expediting, vendor coordination, and manufacturing progress monitoring.
  • Knowledge of vendor schedules, engineering documents, material procurement, inspections, factory acceptance testing, and shipment readiness.
  • Experience with vendor visits and physical progress verification.
  • Ability to identify delays and risks and coordinate recovery actions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • SAP or ERP and Primavera P6 experience is an advantage.
  • Strong communication, reporting, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to travel to vendor or manufacturing facilities and project sites.

Expediting scope

The scope may cover purchase order award, engineering, raw material procurement, manufacturing, inspection and testing, final documentation, release, packing, shipment, and site delivery.

The Field Expeditor is generally not responsible for performing the manufacturer’s engineering or quality assurance or quality control work.
