Role Overview
QA/QC Engineer role for a large-scale steel project in Al Ain, UAE.
The role requires 8+ years of relevant experience and hands-on steel project quality control.
The position focuses on steel erection, fabrication, welding inspection, documentation, and compliance with approved project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect structural steel erection, installation, members, connections, and associated structures at site.
- Verify steel work against approved IFC and shop drawings, specifications, method statements, ITPs, and project requirements.
- Check material identification, traceability, certificates, quantities, dimensions, grades, and physical condition.
- Inspect bolted connections, high-strength bolts, tightening, torqueing, welded connections, and welding procedures.
- Coordinate welding inspections and NDT activities and review UT, MT, PT, and RT reports where applicable.
- Monitor welding quality, welder qualifications, consumables, preheating, interpass temperature, and welding parameters.
- Check alignment, level, plumbness, dimensions, tolerances, positioning, and erection sequencing.
- Prepare inspection requests, checklists, quality records, test reports, NCR logs, and QA/QC dossiers.
- Identify non-conformities, coordinate corrective and preventive actions, and verify rectification and close-out.
- Coordinate with construction, engineering, subcontractor, consultant, and client teams on quality issues.
