QA Engineer — Shopify Platform (Weekday Rotation)

Role Overview

Accountabilities

• Monitor the live Shopify storefront for functional bugs, broken experiences, visual regressions, and customer-impacting issues.
• Validate deployments, theme updates, Liquid changes, and third-party integrations before and after release, including production smoke tests.
• Execute end-to-end manual and automated regression testing across desktop and mobile checkout, subscriptions, discounts, and payments.
• Maintain test cases and perform cross-browser and cross-device validation using tools such as BrowserStack.
• Document defects in ClickUp and GitHub Issues with reproduction steps, evidence, severity, and technical context.
• Collaborate with developers to investigate root causes, review pull-request comments, and validate fixes.
• Check third-party Shopify applications for conflicts and escalate customer-facing or revenue-impacting incidents.
• Prepare shift handoff notes and respond to uptime and platform alerts during the assigned Monday–Friday EST coverage schedule.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in QA, software testing, or a closely related discipline.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of Shopify Admin, themes, apps, metafields, and storefront architecture.
• Proficiency with Shopify Liquid and template logic.
• Practical experience with GitHub branches, pull requests, diffs, issue tracking, and code reviews.
• Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Experience with manual test cases, regression testing, defect triage, severity assignment, and browser and device validation.
• Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
• Ability to work independently during evening or overnight hours with minimal supervision.
• Experience with subscription commerce platforms is a plus.
• Familiarity with Playwright, Cypress, or Selenium is advantageous.

Schedule

• The role follows a consistent Monday–Friday weekday rotation.
• Available coverage windows are 5:00 PM–1:00 AM EST or 1:00 AM–9:00 AM EST.
• The role requires clear shift handoffs and asynchronous communication.

• This is a full-time contract position with a standard 30-day trial period before permanent confirmation.
• The role provides ownership and autonomy over storefront reliability, customer experience, and revenue protection.
