Responsibilities
- Immunize children and adults against vaccine preventable disease
- Investigate and follow up on communicable diseases including outbreak management
- Provide client prenatal/postnatal/family assessments, counseling, consultation, service coordination, follow up, support and referral
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary/intersectoral teams and provide formal presentations and educational programs
- Apply community development process to assist community members in planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating activities
- Maintain records, document observations, interventions and outcomes, collect statistics, prepare reports
Requirements
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with BCCNM
- Graduation from an approved school of nursing including public health nursing component
- Six months recent relevant Public Health nursing experience or one year recent nursing experience in Maternal/Infant/Child or successful completion of final practicum/Co op in Public Health
- Valid Class V B.C. Driver's licence and access to personal vehicle
- Demonstrated knowledge of Public Health Nursing Discipline Specific Competencies
- Demonstrated skill and knowledge of harm reduction, overdose prevention, recognition, and response
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position

- Relief Full Time opportunity for a Public Health Nurse in Tri Cities, BC.
- Salary range: CAD $41.42 $59.52 / hour.

Detailed Overview
- Provides nursing services within the Population Health/Health Promotion Model.
- Applies knowledge specific to health promotion, epidemiology, community development, primary health care, public health ethics.
- Plans, organizes, implements and evaluates health services in schools, homes, communities and outreach locations.
Responsibilities
- Immunizes children and adults against vaccine preventable disease.
- Applies epidemiological principles to investigate and follow up on communicable diseases.
- Provides client prenatal/postnatal/family assessments, counseling, consultation, service coordination, follow up, support and referral.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary/intersectoral teams and provides formal presentations and educational programs.
- Applies community development process to assist community members' involvement.
- Maintains related records; documents observations, interventions and outcomes; collects statistics; prepares reports.
- Contributes to quality of program and practice by identifying needs, issues, and solutions.
- Provides preceptorship and mentorship experiences for nursing students.
- Participates in research studies, surveys, and focus groups.
Qualifications Education and Experience
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with BCCNM.
- Graduation from an approved school of nursing including public health nursing component.
- Six months recent relevant Public Health nursing experience or one year recent nursing experience in Maternal/Infant/Child or successful completion of final practicum/Co op in Public Health.
