The Street Transportation Department plans for the safe and efficient movement of 1.7 million residents and goods, supporting citywide infrastructure projects that improve the quality of life in Phoenix. The Street Transportation Department is currently seeking a Public Engagement Coordinator, a key role that helps shape how communities stay informed and connected to the projects that impact their neighborhoods.
The position is responsible for public engagement and notification for various Capital Improvement Projects, studies, and other projects that the department manages. This includes working closely with project managers, department leadership, residents, organizations and stakeholders. In addition, the Public Engagement Coordinator will work with external community engagement consultants who are retained to perform tasks related to outreach, open houses (in-person or online), data analysis, and recommendations. This also includes managing and staffing community events and outreach opportunities with stakeholders and elected officials.
The duties and responsibilities of the position include and are not limited to:
Manage project meetings.
Develop, edit and coordinate production of collateral materials.
Manage the department's public meetings/public engagement calendar.
Manage contracts for public engagement qualified vendor list.
Build and update project webpages.
Manage public engagement training based on the department's communication plan and notification procedures.
WORK LOCATION & HOURS
The work location is on the 5th floor at Phoenix City Hall building located at 200 W. Washington Street in Phoenix. The standard work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. The role also requires leading public meetings and community engagement activities, which may occur during evening hours or on weekends.
