Public Affairs Specialist | Government Relations Officer

Role Overview

Key Responsibilities

• Develop relationships with government agencies, regulators, public institutions, industry associations, and key external stakeholders.
• Monitor policies, regulations, legislation, parliamentary announcements, government initiatives, and industry developments.
• Analyze business impacts arising from regulatory and public-policy developments.
• Prepare briefings, policy summaries, reports, presentations, talking points, and executive briefing materials.
• Represent the organization in government meetings, consultations, forums, working groups, and industry events.
• Coordinate government inquiries, consultations, meetings, official visits, delegations, and follow-up actions.
• Maintain engagement plans, stakeholder maps, contact records, meeting records, commitments, and policy-development records.
• Support public affairs, government relations, corporate reputation, community engagement, and public-sector partnership initiatives.
• Prepare consultation submissions, position papers, briefing notes, responses, and official correspondence.
• Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Communications, Public Relations, Risk, and business teams.
• Support crisis and issue management involving regulatory, government, or public-policy matters.
• Provide recommendations to senior management and evaluate stakeholder engagement outcomes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Public Affairs, Political Science, Government, International Relations, Communications, Business Administration, Law, or a related field.
• Previous experience in government relations, public affairs, regulatory affairs, corporate affairs, public policy, or stakeholder engagement.
• Strong understanding of government structures, regulatory processes, public policy, and institutional relationships.
• Experience communicating with government agencies, regulators, public institutions, or industry associations.
• Strong research, analysis, communication, negotiation, diplomacy, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and demonstrate professionalism, integrity, confidentiality, and ethical judgment.
• Experience with Legal, Compliance, Communications, Risk, or Corporate Affairs teams is advantageous.
• Familiarity with regulatory databases, government publications, public-policy research tools, or stakeholder-management platforms is beneficial.
• Professional certifications or postgraduate qualifications in a related discipline are advantageous.
